Stephan currently serves as the Chair of the SEG Research Committee (2023-2025) and is a long-term SEG member on the OTC Program Committee.

Over the years, he has co-organized multiple IMAGE post-conversion workshops and SEG research workshops and three times the SEG’s prestigious Recent Advances and Road Ahead (RARA) special session.​​
